The station was originally set up in March 1996 using a Davis
Weather Monitor II, at my previous home in Wimborne, Dorset, around 10
miles from its current location. The station moved to its current location
in late 2000. I upgraded to a
Davis Vantage Pro 2 in 2009 as that is much more
up-to-date and allows me to run more in the way of software.
The website data is automatically updated using Weatherlink (Davis' own software) and a couple of third-party packages.
Cumulus updates the textual and "gauge-style" web
pages.
GraphWeather (written by a
Frenchman - hurrah for Google Translate!) takes the data from Weatherlink and
converts into graphs, which are used to update the "Last 24 hours" and "This/Last
Month" graph pages. It is very flexible and
enables me to get the graphs I want.
I also use another third-party piece of software called
VirtualVP, which allows me to use more than one
software package with the station console, and allows me to connect to it across
a network.
